Living in Chiang Mai
Located in Northern Thailand, Chiang Mai is still one of the most visited cities in the world by foreigners from around the world. The hundreds of ancient and beautiful Buddhist temples, historic moat and exquisite Lana architecture scattered throughout the city are only a few of the attractions that make Chiang Mai a popular destination for both travellers and those looking to start a new life abroad.
Nearby, and easily accessible, are the forested mountains that surround the city. It is easy to balance city and country life when you live in Chiang Mai. Picturesque hillside villages, National Parks, and hiking trails are all within an easy drive. Scenic waterfalls and mountain streams provide a refreshing break during the hot, humid season.
In the city itself, you are never to far from the Chiang Mai International Airport that offers daily flights to most other Asian destinations. Shopping has never been easier with the large number of modern malls that have sprung up around the city in recent years. You will be hard pressed to not find anything you are looking for.
With a large, active expat community and helpful local residents, Chiang Mai is an easy transition for those moving abroad.

Chiang Mai still a tranquil location
Looking at Thailand from outside the country, it is easy to be skeptical about its new government. It certainly causes concern to those that are thinking of moving here for business, retirement or just an extended holiday. A country under military rule, with a general at the helm, is not most people’s idea of a prime destination. So what is it really like living under this new junta? So far, the actual reality of the situation is not really causing concern to most local residents and, on a day-to-day basis, there are very few noticeable changes.
